They'll handle the room reservations and the boat reservations for you. Sometimes there will be a savings when you book a Catalina Island Package.
One more reason to stay over night is the tours. You can't take the inland motor tour if your just doing a day cruise on Catalina Island. There are so many tours, that staying over night gives you a chance to be on more of them.
